The Galaxy Note Edge users in Russia are the first ones to get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update treatment from Samsung.
If you are not based in Russia, but you still want to run the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware on your device, then this is the guide that you should try to use.
The Android 5.1.1 N915FXXU1COH2 firmware update is being rolled out in stages, over-the-air, for all the International Galaxy Note Edge owners. In case you wish to flash the new update manually, then you should check the instructions in this post first.
Check the following guidelines before starting the updating process:
- use this post only with the International Samsung Galaxy Note Edge devices.
– the model number of your phone should be SM – N915F.
– check the version of your device under Settings> About Phone menu.
– do not try to update any other smartphones with the files listed in this post. - download the Samsung USB Drivers from here.
– install the drivers on your computer.
– these drivers are going to allow the PC to connect to your phone easily. - for the manual updating process you will have to use the Odin3 v3.10.6 application.
– disable Samsung KIES and any antivirus app from running on your PC.
– these types of apps are going to block Odin from flashing any new firmware files. - enable the USB Debugging option from Developer Options menu.
– if you can’t find the USB Debugging, then you will have to enable it first:
– go to Settings> About Phone and tap 7 times to enable Developer Options.
– return to Settings, scroll down and open the Developer Options menu.
– find USB Debugging and enable it.
– the “usb debugging” allows you phone to detect the computer when these two are connected via usb cable. - you can install the official firmware over a rooted firmware but you will lose any root access.
– any custom Recovery will also be replaced with a stock Android Recovery image. - if your phone is running a custom ROM, then you can flash the new official update, but you need to know that an extra ‘factory reset’ process has to be applied after the installation is done.
– the ‘factory reset’ process wipes clean the system partition memory, and it allows your phone to boot in normal mode after all the new Android 5.1.1 firmware files are installed successfully.
– the ‘factory reset’ removes the old custom ROM, it doesn’t delete any files from internal nor external storage. - if your Galaxy Note Edge device sports a 100% stock ROM, then you can continue straight to the tutorial part of this post.
- read the whole tutorial and do not skip any steps.
- this guide has to be applied by advanced users, we cannot be blamed in case you end up losing any data in the process nor in case you brick your smartphone.
- check the battery charge level and then make sure that it is over 50%, it will prevent the device from powering off during the update.
Since you’ve read all of the above you can continue to the next part of this post and learn how to successfully update your device with a brand new Lollipop firmware.

These were the steps you had to take in order to complete the updating process. In case you’ve encountered any problems during installation you should continue reading the extra info below.
If Odin shows the FAIL alert, then the update wasn’t applied and you will be forced to repeat the whole guide more than once. Make sure that in case you repeat the tutorial, then you will re-read the guidelines above the tutorial and that you won’t be skipping any steps.
If Odin shows the PASS alert, but the phone gets stuck during the first boot process for more than 15 minutes or it enters in a boot loop, then a ‘factory reset’ process is needed.
